About V. K. Memorial Library and Reading Room:
Being born and bought up in Kalyan East East, Vishusir always knew about the needs of an average student quite clearly. The Chawl system, wherein the voice of a radio/speaker in one room was audible in the other room easily and this affected exam preparations to a great extent. Hence, an idea hit to create a place where student could concentrate and study for some hours of the day. This led to birth of ‘V. K. Memorial Library and Reading Room’.
Hailing from a middle class family, it was impossible for Vishusir to provide this facility for the masses. He explained this concept to big shots but since the ROI was negligible, nobody was interested to purchase this concept. After Heramb started in 2002, the financial position improved and the first social project undertaken by Vishusir was formation of an NGO – V. K. Memorial Welfare Association’ with family and friends on 16th Nov 2006. Being a social project, the conscious was clear and things fell in place one after another and on 1st Jan 2007, this library and reading room was established and inaugurated.
V.K. Library and Reading Room is spread over 2000 sq. ft area at Jai Shree Ram Bhuvan CHS, Kolsewadi, Kalyan East East which is a landmark in itself and pride of Kalyan East East. Over the past 12 years, an average of 5000 students take advantage of this facility. Students from far off places like Karjat, Kasara have taken benefits of this unique venture. An economic fee, study atmosphere, helping staff have helped students achieve their target comfortably year after year.

Infact, ICAI has taken a leaf out of this project and established many reading room not only in Mumbai but pan India. Very few people are aware of the fact that this novel idea was seeded in Kalyan East East in the young mind of Vishusir many years ago.
